FAQ

Find answers to our most frequently asked questions.

Product Performance

Q: What advantages do lithium batteries offer over traditional lead-acid batteries?

A: Lithium batteries provide numerous benefits, including:

- No maintenance: Eliminates the need for watering or acid level checks.

- Lightweight design: Approximately one-third the weight of lead-acid
counterparts.

- Faster charging times: Reduces downtime between uses.

- Extended run times: Depending on the battery pack size.

- Longer lifespan: Typically lasts three times longer than lead-acid batteries.

- Safe storage: Can be left unused for extended periods without degradation.

Q: Are lithium batteries safe for use in golf carts?

A: Yes. Hornet Energy USA utilizes Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO₄) cells, known for their stability and safety. Additionally, our batteries are equipped with advanced Battery Management Systems (BMS) to ensure optimal operation within designed parameters.

Q: How many rounds of golf can I expect on a single charge?

A: The number of rounds varies based on terrain and battery capacity. Generally:

- 105Ah battery: Approximately 54 holes, including travel to and from the
course.

Charging & Installation

Q: What type of extension cord should I use to charge my battery?

A: For optimal charging:
- Up to 15 feet: Use a 12-14 AWG cord.
- Up to 25 feet: Use a 10-12 AWG cord.
- Over 25 feet: Not recommended due to potential voltage drop.

Q: What components are needed to convert my golf cart to lithium?

A: Essential components include:
- Hornet Energy USA lithium battery.
- Compatible battery charger.
-SOC monitor for battery status.
- 200 Amp Solenoid

Q: Do I need to modify my charger to work with Hornet Energy batteries?

A: Hornet Energy USA chargers specifically designed for our batteries must be used to ensure compatibility and optimal performance. Using third-party chargers will void the warranty.

Ordering & Shipping

Q: Can I purchase batteries directly from Hornet Energy USA?

A: We sell our products through a network of authorized dealers. Please use our dealer locator to find the nearest dealer to you.

Q: How are the batteries shipped?

A: Due to their weight (over 70 lbs), our batteries are shipped via Less Than Truckload (LTL) freight. Shipping to commercial locations with a forklift is preferred. Residential deliveries may incur additional fees, especially if a lift gate is required.

Q: Are your batteries approved for parcel shipping via UPS or FedEx?

A: No. Our batteries exceed the weight limit for standard parcel shipping and must be shipped via LTL freight.

Q: What is the typical charging time for the batteries?

Q: What is the typical charging time for the batteries?

Charging time depends on the battery's amp-hour(Ah) rating and the charger's output.
For Example: a 105Ah battery charged with a 15A charger would take approximately 7 hours to fully charge from a depleted state.

Maintenance & Support

Q: How should I clean my lithium battery?

A: Clean the battery using a damp cloth. Avoid using chemicals or pressure washers, as they can damage the battery and void the warranty.

Q: Will my battery function in extreme temperatures?

A: Our batteries are designed to operate in a wide range of temperatures. However:
- Cold conditions: Discharge is possible down to approximately -20°F, but charging is not recommended below 32°F.
- Hot conditions: Batteries can operate in ambient temperatures up to 115°F

Q: Can I run multiple batteries in parallel or series?

A: Our batteries can be connected in parallel to increase capacity. However, do not connect them in series. Always consult our wiring diagrams or contact support for guidance.

Q: Do I need to calibrate the State of Charge (SOC) meter?

A: Initial calibration may be required upon installation. Refer to the user manual for calibration instructions specific to your battery model.
